Announced as a multi-platform operating system, Windows 8 is, as the title says, Microsoft’s biggest bet yet. The use of two different visual interfaces within the OS sure makes it interesting but also raises a few questions: are 2 different UI’s really needed? will the users use them both in equal measure? is the Metro UI a viable alternative to the classic interface? From past experience with the Windows Phone 7 interface, you could say that using this tiled UI might not be the best choice, but Microsoft keeps insisting on us to use it. Could this be a game changer? Only time will tell.
